Abstract
By experimenting with a probe type head, writing mechanism of double layer perpendicular medium, it becomes clear that the perpendicular field
+ Hd is required to write enough, where
is the coercive field of the medium, Hd = kπMs (
) is the demagnetization field and Ms is the magnetization of the medium. In order to generate a strong perpendicular field, the probe type head structure was designed. Corrosion resistive Fe-Si-Ru complex film, of which saturation is 17 kG and permeability is 2000, is developed as a main pole material. A new fabrication method for the multi-turn coil within a small magnetic path is also developed to achieve this design. The output signal of the probe type head by using a Co-Cr double layer medium is about two times as large as that for Winchester type Mn-Zn ferrite head.
