Abstract
A class of bipolar motion sensors, each consisting of a core of soft magnetic material modulated by a motion sensing hard magnetic material, is presented. Merits include the non-contact nature of the motion sensing element, the ability to measure the displacements and/or magnetic fields with the same system, the measurement of rotation, and high frequency of operation.
