Abstract
Following previous measurements in argon/methane mixtures, the authors report on the emission spectra of argon/ethane and methane/ethane mixtures in the region from 120 to 450 nm, for a single wire chamber working in the proportional and/or self-quenching streamer modes. Identification of radicals and fragments is attempted. The time evolution of VUV light, relevant to photon feedback processes, is presented for the CI lines at 156.1 and 165.7 nm in argon/methane, argon/ethane and methane/ethane mixtures
