Abstract :
A transmission loss of 0.25 dB/km at 1.57 ¿m wavelength, which is comparable to that found in commercially available single-mode fibres, has been demonstrated in PANDA optical fibres. A crosstalk of ¿29 dB in a 2.4 km length, which corresponds to the mode coupling coefficient of 5.2 × 10¿7 m¿1, has been found in the 1.55 ¿m wavelength region.
