Abstract :
Time and spectral responses of a tunable three-contact distributed feedback (DFB) amplifier-filter obtained by feeding 50-ps optical pulses show the generation of a slow exponential falling tail ( approximately= 200 ps) in the output signal when the input pulses are spectrally narrowed. This phenomenon should limit the transfer bit rate of wavelength-filtered signals.<>
