Abstract :
Inner low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes are designed for practical use in magnetic recording read channel with traditional outer Reed-Solomon (RS) codes. These codes are based on single-parity codes and therefore have low encoding and decoding complexity. Simulation results show that these LDPC codes are promising inner codes for both 512 and 4 k byte sectors.
