Abstract :
This article discusses briefly the OpenCable application platform (OCAP) specification, which is the software solution that has been designed and developed by Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs) to achieve the retail availability mandate mentioned earlier and to enable competing implementations of the OCAP specification by consumer electronics manufacturers. In association with industry vendors and North American cable operators, the OCAP specification provides application interoperability across a variety of receiver types and cable networks.
