It may be that a combination of technological advances and market opportunity is about to make wireless power transmission possible. Each of the systems discussed here face issues of trying to build an ecosystem of wireless chargers and devices with adapters or embedded receivers, before any kind of standard emerges. There will also be inevitable safety issues: if the public is unwilling to allow mobile phone masts to be built close to schools, it seems unlikely they´ll welcome the installation of underfloor grids delivering large amounts of wireless power. But if those concerns can be overcome then Tesla´s dream is about to come true.
