Abstract :
A DCT-domain temporal filtering in a video encoder is presented. It is proven that the multiplication of every DCT coefficient in an inter block with a proper weight is equivalent to motion-compensated temporal filtering in the spatial domain for the inter block. Thus, a temporal filtering in the DCT-domain is proposed, which determines properly the weight by using an effective noise estimation scheme.
