Abstract
Low temperature specific heats (1.5-6 K) and magnetic susceptibilities (4.2-300 K) have been measured on (a1-x bx )77 B13 Si10 pseudobinary amorphous alloys with a and b from any 3d-transition elements. Their magnetic states are found to be in ferromagnetic, paramagnetic or spin-glass states at low temperatures. The band structure, which can be deduced in ferro- and paramagnetic states from the electronic specific heat coefficient, turns out to be fairly structureless against the average electron concentration. The specific heat in the spin-glass state can be expressed by the equation C=γexp T+A at temperatures well below the spin-freezing temperature Tf , We find that both γexp and A, when plotted against Tf , fall on universal curves, regardless of the alloy systems studied.
