Abstract :
A wavelength-division-multiplexed optical-time-domain-reflectometry (OTDR) supervisory technique is experimentally demonstrated in a 200-km transmission system. The technique can simultaneously achieve in-line EDFA performance monitoring and diversity protection, and fault location in optical fibers.<>
