Abstract
We present a method for accurately simulating the impact of cross-phase modulation (CPM) in wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) transmission while propagating only a single channel. Our method determines the impact of CPM by mimicking neighboring channels through appropriately delayed replicas of the single channel being propagated. Propagating only a single channel enables WDM transmission to be simulated far more rapidly than with a full multichannel simulation
