The History of the Automatic RF Techniques Group

The early years of the ARFTG were more like a user\´s group than the professional measurement society the ARFTG would become. In fact, the early meetings were not a pleasant place for the designated HP representative. For many years, the HP representative would change with each meeting, either to protect the guilty or preserve the sanity of the representative. As a user, the magic of these test systems was hidden in the software, which was not available in source form to the user. The ARFTG was formed to "help" realize the needs of the users.
