Abstract :
A Josephson potentiometer for the comparison of two-terminal DC resistors in the range from about 10 kΩ to at least 10 MΩ is described. It is based on a three-terminal Josephson junction series array. Resistance ratios from 1:1 to 1:10 are compared with a single device. Measurements with a prototype instrument show a relative reproducibility of 1 part in 107. Besides standard Josephson junction series arrays with a characteristic impedance of the stripline Z≈3 Ω high-impedance arrays with Z≈77 Ω were realized
