Abstract :
The characteristics of Yb+ held in a RF trap in the presence of a light buffer gas by irradiation with resonant light beams, including those for depleting the metastable state of the 2 D3/2 and 2F7/2 states, are studied. Further investigation is made concerning the disappearance of ionic detection signals via RF resonance absorption by irradiation with the radiation driving the 2S1/2-2P1/2 transition
