  • Abstract
A numerically defined magnetic field along the gyrotron Z-axis was approximated (using an iteration process) by six solenoids. Parameters varied were coil geometry (but fixed inner radius), current density of the coils, polarity of current, position and number of coils. After the design with the chosen conductor and after the winding work, calculations were performed with the actual dimensions to check the magnetic field along the Z-axis. No significant discrepancy has been found. A correction coil system consisting of four identical saddle coils has been included. These coils allow the electrons to be deflected in a radial direction in order to compensate for mechanical tolerances. The properties of the magnets are summarized, and the field distribution is given.
