Abstract
The purpose of this presentation is to discuss causes leading to fire hazards and multiple aspects of the flammability of shunt capacitors containing various dielectric fluids. The three areas discussed are; (1) What are the causes leading to an explosion (rupture)? (2) What are the objectionable aspects of flammability? (3) How is adequate fire protection achieved?
