Abstract
In order to obtain high-power submillimeter-wave pulses, UV preionization was applied to the transverse discharges in HCN-laser gas mixtures. Homogeneous discharges were obtained at pressures up to 1 atm. An increase of laser output and working pressure was achieved for the 337-μm emission.
