  • Abstract
    December 31 2002 the Shanghai Maglev demonstration and operation line celebrated its opening ceremony, the world first Maglev commercial line born in China. The next maglev development step in China is under active discussion. Based on our past active work to promote the high-speed Maglev development and application in China, we suggested that it is needed to make decision that the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed line should select the high-speed Maglev option. The present paper describes comprehensively our consideration, including: (1) the quite good foundation for Maglev option selection for Beijing-Shanghai line based on the successful construction and operation of the Shanghai demonstration line; (2) the very important significance of selection of the Maglev option for Beijing-Shanghai line; (3) the suggestion for the near-future work.
