  • Abstract
A new levitation-melting apparatus with flux concentration cap is developed in order to obtain a stable levitation. The cap is also a concentrator that has a slit and a hole. The relationship between the diameter of the cap hole and the high frequency power is measured, and the flux distribution of this apparatus is investigated by using the approximate-axisymmetric boundary element analysis including the terminal voltage. As a result, it is shown that this apparatus is useful for stationary levitation. In this system, it is not necessary to control so carefully the exciting current for a light-weight sample
