Abstract :
This is a two-part series that introduces the optical-electrical printed circuit board (O-EPCB) technology and its challenges. Part I covers a survey of current copper-based printed circuit boards and their limitations. It also introduces the optical communication system and its features. In the March/April 2009 issue, Part II will feature the challenges of manufacturing and adapting O-EPCBs.
