Abstract :
A system for the measurement of the initial relative permeability (μsi) of magnetic materials at the temperature corresponding to the boiling point of liquid nitrogen (77.4 K) is discussed. The system makes use of magnetic rods as the measurement samples, a superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-O (YBCO) rod as the standard sample, an excitation coil, and a differential coil. The authors examine the principle of the measuring system and the frequency characteristics of μsi for typical magnetic materials at a temperature of 77.4 K
