Abstract
A hemi-teardrop-shaped probe designed to produce an intense optical near-field to a subwavelength spatial dimension is presented. The influence of probe shape on optical near-field enhancement is investigated using the finite-difference time-domain method. The numerical results show that the resonant wavelength can be controlled by adjusting the sharpness of the object.
