Abstract :
The history of technical superconductivity in the USSR and later in the Russian Federation (RF) is very tightly connected with the name of Anatoly Nikulin one of the leading scientist of the Bochvar Institute. He made major contribution to the field of superconductivity in the RF as an applied scientist and as a leader of the National Program on the development of industrial production of the technical superconducting materials in previous Soviet Union and than in Russia. A brief review of main advances in superconducting strands technology is presented. The evolution of the properties of both HTS and LTS superconductors designed and developed in Bochvar Institute is reviewed. The results of main R&D and ITER connected activities are outlined.
