Abstract :
The properties of the complex linear prediction filter are considered as used in the prewhitening of narrow-band interference prior to detection or parameter estimation based on optimum (MMSE) linear filtering. The parameter dependence of the filter output power, gain, and frequency response is quantified through the analysis of a single narrow-band interference plus uncorrelated tap noise. It is shown how the filter aperture has its usefulness in controlling the width of the notch formed and the whitening of the rest of the spectrum while the depth of the notch formed is proportional to the inverse of the interference-to-noise ratio.
