Abstract :
The application of linear programming to the design of FIR digital filters with constraints on the derivative of the frequency response is described. Numerical considerations in the implementation are discussed and a program is given with examples for the design of filters with optional monotone response in passbands. The method provides the user with an additional degree of flexibility over the Remez exchange algorithm.
