  • Abstract
Concern prompted by the news media over the health effects of electric and magnetic fields has generated the need to dispel the fears. One method is to record the electric and magnetic field intensity in the work place. This paper presents the standards available to guide one in conducting a measurement survey. There are two dozen or more instruments available. The selection of the proper instrument to perform the measurements is critical, especially should a court case develop. The methods and pitfalls associated with conducting an electric or magnetic survey are covered. A List of the instruments available is included in an appendix
