Abstract :
Electric utilities are experiencing underground corrosion that is difficult to treat because of limited experience with cathodic protection of electric neutrals on underground facilities. A novel approach is suggested, based on treatment of the neutral and grounds as an AC circuit and on calculations of resistance-to-earth of cable neutrals and sacrificial anodes. The calculated design data seem to offer advantages over tables and correction factors that have been used by providing more precise information in less time
