Abstract :
Ocean noise is characterized by both temporal and spectral properties. Time-domain statistics are often non-Gaussian, and spectra are typically non-white. Both attributes can be simulated at the same time by applying a spectral shaping filter to random numbers having a specified kurtosis. A method for generating random numbers with arbitrary kurtosis is presented
