Abstract
The synthesis part of an LAR vocoder was programmed on a fast signal-processing microcomputer TMS 320 (Texas Instruments) connected to a laboratory computer and to a D/A converter via two parallel ports. The device replaces an older (mainly analog) one in a plug-and software-compatible way. The hardware and program architectures are described. More complicated synthesizers modeling the vocal tract in real time are planned.
