  • Abstract
    The paper presents transient analysis of a compound-wound DC motor based on a nonlinear time-variant transient model expressed in terms of machine electromagnetic parameters as against known available models including mechanical parameters. The steady-state behaviour of the developed model is validated on a machine through laboratory experimentation. Hence, a novel method has been proposed to improve the transient behaviour of the motor by inserting switched resistance which has been substantiated by simulated results showing remarkable improvements.
