Abstract
The spontaneous clock division of an optical pulse train at 2.5 GHz is reported. This divide by two function is achieved using a semiconductor optical amplifier as the nonlinear element in a fibre loop mirror, where the switching pulses are obtained by feeding back the reflected loop output
