Abstract
The transport AC losses in a high-TC superconducting (Bi,Pb)SrCaCuO-2223/Ag tape at 32 and 64 Hz are presented. New expressions for the equivalent inductance formed between the electric centre of the superconductor and the voltage leads are also given. Both the measured and predicted inductance are found to be nonlinear with applied current. This may be used to relate homogeneity and the distribution of critical current density in the superconductor to the observed losses in isolated tapes
