Abstract
Insulators using semiconductive glaze have long been known for their superior contamination performance. Early glazes for this type of insulator, however, were not stable, and successful use of semiconductive glazed porcelain insulators was delayed many years until tin-antimony oxide glazes were developed. Service experience of 18 years is now available for line and station post insulators with this type of glaze. On the basis of this experience, the aging characteristics of tin-antimony-oxide semiconductive glazes are described and quantified. Several different applications of these insulators are also described
