Abstract
Computer-based fraud is an increasing crime with only one in twenty frauds resulting in a successful prosecution. In order to make systems secure the use of the public key cipher (PKC) system is being introduced. PKC has the advantage that the secret aspect of the process is wholly under the control of the person receiving the information. The use of PKC with a digital signature is discussed
