  • Abstract
The UK election is coming up and the big wild card, the UK Independence Party, certainly has some interesting policies. Some of them are rational if taken in isolation, and reflect an understanding of bits of EU regulation that have caused Britain harm. UKIP points out that in leaving the EU the UK will get its fishing waters back. EU laws on doctors??? rest have made running the NHS more expensive and have reduced the training doctors get before they are qualified. UKIP also calls attention to the UK being able to plant all the GM food it likes if it leaves. Currently the EU???s authorisation scheme for GM crops has been held up by a negative ??? some say irrational ??? stance from several EU states.
