Abstract
The principle of operation of a noise-modulated radio altimeter is based on the dependence of the cross-correlation function of the random modulation (Gaussian noise) of the finite correlatorbandwidth, the smoothing time, the influence of extraneous noise disturbance, and the change of the altitude of the aircraft during measurement. An optimum value of integration time is found that minimizes the errors that enable the meter to measure short and very short distances.
