Abstract
An experimental relation is found between the pyroelectric and electrooptic coefficients of several ferroelectric materials. The physical basis of this relation is explained using Garrett´s anharmonic oscillator model, and the pyroelectric coefficients of Sr0.25 Ba0.75 Nb2 O6 , Sr2 NaNb5 O15 ,Ba2 NaNb5 O15 , KSr2 Nb5 O15 , K3 Li2 - Nb5 O15 , and Ag3 AsS3 are predicted from the known electrooptic coefficients.
