Abstract
An interpolation model in computer-aided geometric design must satisfy at least two conditions: 1) the model must yield a smooth design and 2) modifications to the model must have only a local effect. These constraints on the model usually yield a large number of parameters with which the designer must deaL In this paper we discuss a preprocessor which requires interpolation data as input and produces the necessary data to generate a curve. This preliminary design may then be manipulated in a convenient local manner.
