Abstract :
Although there has been a dramatic reduction on the prices of capturing devices and an increase on computing power in the last decade, it seems that biometric systems are still for from massive adoption for civilian applications. This paper deals with the causes of this phenomenon, as well as some misconceptions regarding biometric identification.
