Abstract
Humans can discriminate materials by tapping objects such as: metal, wood or plastic. When an object is tapped, some natural vibrations occur accordingly to the structure and the physical properties of the object. Generally, humans can perceive these natural vibrations through their tactile receptors; and then these can be discriminated into materials. In this demo, we demonstrate a haptic vibration rendering method based on a finite element vibration simulation. The user will be able to feel many kinds of 3D objects with different combinations of haptic materials, and structures.
