Abstract
Computers can be used in a variety of ways to provide individualized and relevant training of power system operators. A computer can be dedicated as a simulator, allowing realistic practice on simulated equipment. A general purpose computer-based training system can also be used for simulation, but can also be used in other modes. These include tutorial and drill-and-practice modes of computer-assisted instruction (CAI), and computer-managed instruction (CMI). An ideal training system should make use of several of these modes, as well as other resources, to provide optimal instruction for each training need.
