Abstract
Corrections for series impedance have in the past been taken into consideration in analyzing characteristics of overhead transmission lines above lossy ground. There should also be corrections to adjust shunt admittances when the ground is not perfectly conductive. In the present paper, modal propagation constants, step responses, and characteristic impedance matrices are presented to show the effects of admittance corrections for a multi-conductor case. Neglecting the corrections can produce attenuation constants which are in error by several orders of magnitude at high frequencies.
