Abstract :
This paper describes an efficient method for accurate calculation of system asymmetrical short circuit currents for both balanced and unbalanced faults. The method uses a Fourier transform technique to calculate the unidirectional component of the short circuit current and a transient stability program to compute the alternating component. The proposed method is validated by comparing its results with those of a detailed time domain simulation.
