  • Abstract
    Today, high energy costs and the availability of large (Example: 3000A, 4000V) solid- state devices are forcing industry to look at new and different adjustable speed drives. This paper introduces three different types of adjustable able speed drives for use on large fans and mixed flow pumps. The three systems are: (1) the current source inverter; (2) the wound rotor slip recovery system; and (3) the synchro-converter or brushless D.C. system.
