Abstract :
Various materials and processes required for the construction of a nondestructive 15-kV class 50-kVA distribution transformer are being developed. High-temperature paint, low-temperature-melting glass, fiberglass cloth, and porcelain tubes have been used in modeling coils and transformers to prove the feasibility of an inorganically insulated distribution transformer. Techniques and equipment for applying the insulations and winding the coils are being developed.
