Abstract :
Presented at a Panel Session on Technologies for the Twenty-First Century 1989 Winter Meeting. Electric utilities are part of a high tech industry. Since no industry can survive without an influx of new ideas, concepts, materials and technology, we can expect technology to play an ever increasingly important role in future utility operations. The uncertainty and competitive environment that seems apparent in the future will demand the advantages new technology can provide.
