Abstract :
The main purpose of this paper is to design a feedback system that optimize the dynamic response of the system shown in Fig. (l). Such a system should be stable for any small disturbance. Pontryagin´s maximum principle, which gives the solution for the optimal linear regulator problem through the eigenvector method , is applied. The system consists of a synchronous machine connected to an infinite bus through a transmission line. The effect of two control signals fed to the voltage requlator and the mechanical system is investigated. Also the effect of machine saturation on dynamic response is included.
