Abstract :
Software developers would rather not have to learn multiple interfaces and programming environments to work with different vendors´ tools. This has encouraged the use of the multivendor integrated development environment (IDE). The article discusses the case for the development of a Java IDE. It describes 2 candidate IDE, NetBeans and Eclipse. Oracle has submitted to Sun a compromise Java IDE proposal designed to work with both NetBeans and Eclipse.
