Abstract :
A probabilistic technique is presented to evaluate the additional interruptible load-carrying capability of a generation system without having to commit any extra unit(s) than that required to carry the firm load. The authors provide insight into load interruption and sudden load increments when capacity adjustments cannot be performed within a specific time period. The technique is illustrated with numerical examples. It can be applied to short and medium-term operational planning
